Home-made Peanut Brittle with Macadamia nuts


Lately I've been craving to have some peanut brittle. The peanut brittle I like best are the one's found in Baguio. It's been ages since I had them. I remember them to be soft, chewy and a bit crunchy. So yesterday, I decided to experiment and make my own. I'm not a cook nor did I study how. I'm more of a fly-by-night cook. I find the recipes around the net and experiment.

Truth be told this (the photo above) was my second attempt. On the first attempt I mistakenly used Muscovado sugar instead of brown (baking) sugar. : ) Lucky my wife was there to correct my mistake. And since I used up and burned most of the small peanuts on the first batch, I found some Macadamia nuts that kinda suited this experiment. The taste? Golden.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Chip cookies


Last Sunday my wife felt like baking. And since it was a hot, lazy Sunday, she decided to bake chocolate chip cookies with Ghirardelli chocolate mixed with Macadamia nuts. Overall it was nice way to end the week. Lately I've been so busy updating my(this) new website. So these cookies were the perfect reward for a busy past few months.

Donuts for Valentines


This afternoon, on my way home from the Mall, I spotted this beauty calling my name. I must confess, I have a really bad sweet tooth. I think I got it from my mom's side. And since I can't resist the sight of Hershey's Kisses topped on a donut...well you know the rest. : ) This creation was made by Krispy Kreme.

Afternoon light with tea


I'm really a coffee person, but this afternoon my wife came home with a box of butter cookies. She said butter cookies tasted better with tea. So, since it has been a cool February 2015, I decided to give them a try. For my taste, tea is better with honey (instead of sugar). 
The butter cookies though, really hit the spot.
